Membership is open to IT professionals, graduates, students, corporate entities and individuals with an interest in IT. See the Membership page for the full list of eligible persons under the Constitution.
Your grade is determined by the Membership Committee based on your qualifications and years of verified ICT experience. The Committee screens your application and makes a recommendation to the Executive Council for approval.
The Membership Committee typically reviews applications within 10 working days of receiving a complete application with all supporting documents and proof of payment.
Yes. You may apply for a Membership Regrade once you have accumulated the required experience for a higher grade. Use the same application form and select "Regrade" as the application type.
Fellow (FBITS) is the highest individual grade, awarded to members with 18+ years of ICT experience who have made significant contributions to the profession. The annual fee is BWP 500 plus a BWP 100 administration fee for new applications.
BITS accepts cash, cheque, bank deposit and EFT into the FNB account (Account No: 57360029014). Please use your full name as the payment reference and submit proof of payment with your application.
Members receive annual renewal notices. You must renew within three months of the notice being served. Payment of the annual subscription fee to the FNB account constitutes renewal. Contact the office if you have not received a renewal notice.
