Membership Types & Grades
BITS offers eight membership grades covering every stage of your ICT career — from student to Fellow.
Individual Membership Grades
All individual grades are open to application except Fellow, which is awarded by invitation only. Qualified members (Fellow, Member, Associate Member) are entitled to use designatory letters after their names.

| Graduate Member | GM | Holds qualifications conforming to BITS education standards but lacks the experience required for Associate Member | Application |
| Student Member | SM | Active student reading for qualifications that conform to BITS education standards | Application |
| Individual Affiliate | INA | Individuals with interest in information technology who lack the qualifications and experience for qualified member status | Application |
Organisational Membership Grades
BITS welcomes organisations and institutions that share an interest in information technology and ICT development in Botswana.

Voting Rights
Only paid-up members in the following grades have the right to vote at AGMs and general meetings:
- Fellow
- Member
- Associate Member
- Graduate Member
- Corporate Member (may nominate a Fellow, Member, Associate or Graduate Member to vote on their behalf)
Voting is on the basis of one member, one vote.
