Our Vision
To be a highly respected Society of IT professionals with proven high standards of performance and ethical conduct in Botswana and beyond.
Our Mission
To develop and promote the integrity and competence of the Information Technology profession through acceptable performance standards, education, and professional interaction.
Our Core Objectives
As set out in the BITS Constitution (Article 3), the Society exists to:

Develop professional standards — establish acceptable performance standards, codes of conduct and practice for the IT profession.

Provide leadership — give direction in the area of information technology and communications in Botswana.

Disseminate knowledge — share information on IT developments with members and the general public.

Promote understanding — advance knowledge and understanding of IT for effective and productive utilisation throughout Botswana.

Enable exchange — provide a forum for the exchange of views among IT professionals and users.

Bridge academia and industry — promote professional interaction between academia and industry aimed at cross-fertilisation of ideas that improve IT utilisation and training standards.

Advise stakeholders — provide guidance to individuals and organisations who are potential users of IT.

Pursue excellence — uphold the ideal of a highly respected Society of IT professionals with proven high standards of performance and ethical conduct.

Mobilise resources — engage in lawful activities that mobilise resources for the purpose of furthering the Society's objectives.

Build global connections — establish contact with national, regional and international professional bodies for exchange of ideas and collaboration.
