About BITS
Learn about the Botswana Information Technology Society — our history, purpose and the people who lead us.
Who We Are
The Botswana Information Technology Society (BITS) is a non-profit voluntary professional body established for the purpose of carrying out objectives that develop, promote, and protect the Information Technology profession in Botswana.
Registered with the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs in 1994, BITS has grown to become the foremost professional society for ICT practitioners in the country — serving a diverse membership of ICT professionals, educators, researchers, students, and industry practitioners across Botswana.
The Society actively supports Botswana's digital transformation agenda and Vision 2036 by hosting national ICT conferences, driving capacity building in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, and empowering youth and women in technology. BITS also advocates for sound ICT policy and maintains partnerships with academic institutions, industry, and regional and international professional bodies.
The Society's Head Office is located at the Botswana Innovation Hub, Science and Technology Park, Gaborone.
